Javier Vega de Seoane
Mr. Vega de Seoane started his career in 1972, at Fundiciones del Estanda, S.A., where he spent two years, followed by another two years at Leyland Ibérica and then an 8-year period at SKF Española, holding the positions of Marketing and Sales Manager, GM, MD and CEO & Chairman of the Board.
He joined the Instituto Nacional de Industria (INI, a Government owned holding Group) as GM of the Group in 1984, and became Partner at TASA A.G., an international “executive search” company, in late 1986. At the same time, in the beginning of 1987, he founded Gestlink.
In October 1988, he took over the Presidency of Explosivos Río Tinto and S.A. Cros (Spanish chemical conglomerates). Following the merger, he held the position of Chairman of the Board of Ercros up till October 1991. At that time, he returned to Gestlink as President of the Company.
He has been senior advisor for the American investment bank, Wasserstein Perella, in Spain and has served on the Board of Directors of Robert Bosch, Red Eléctrica de España, SEAT, CAMPSA, IBM España, Scheweppes, ThyssenKrupp, Grupo Ferrovial (where he was Chairman of the audit committee), Polmetasa, Tavex Algodonera (where he was Chairman of the audit committee), Gil y Carvajal, AON España, and Solvay Ibérica. He has also been a member of the Airbus Industries Policy Group, Chairman of the Board of Fujitsu España, President of Bodaclick.com, Vice-President of Azkar, Chairman of MasMovil Telecom and has served on the Board of Directors of the Corporate Council of the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, on the Executive Board of the Spanish-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, and on the Executive Board of the Círculo de Empresarios (as Vice-President), where he served as Chairman of its Energy Committee and thereafter, President of the institution from 2015 to 2018.
Mr. Vega de Seoane is Chairman of DKV Seguros, President of Gestlink and serves on the Board of Directors of SONAE Industria (where he chairs the Board Audit and Financial Committee) and Sonae-Arauco. He is also Chairman of the Advisory Board of Fujitsu Spain, member of the Advisory Board of Atrevia and Partner at TELAM.
He is also the Honorary President of the Círculo de Empresarios, member of the Advisory Board of the Mining Engineering School of Madrid, member of the Advisory Board of the Fundación de Estudios para la Energía, member of the Energy Working Group of El Real Instituto Elcano, and Board member of the Nebrija University.
Mr. Vega de Seoane is a Mining Engineer graduated from the Mining Engineering School of Madrid (1971) and holds a Business Management degree from the Glasgow Business School (1972). He speaks English and French.
